The newly deployed Customs Area Controller (CAC) to Ports Terminal and Multipurpose Limited (PTML) Command, of Nigeria Customs Service, Tade Adetoye has urged Officers of the Command to improve on their vigilance in the discharge of their functions.
Adetoye who gave the charge during the handing over ceremony when he fully assumed office at the command in Lagos, said Customs Officers should continually improve on their duties in the areas of preventing revenue leakages and smuggling.
The new CAC asked officers of the Command to justify their postings to the Command and work in line with the good examples of hardwork and diligence being laid by Controller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (Rtd).
He described his new assignment as a second challenge after overseeing Customs activities at the Adamawa Taraba Command of the Service.
Adetoye, urged Officers to give in their best and not settle for mediocrity or standards below expectations. ”I want the best from all of you. Don’t give me your best because your best may not be the best. We all have good examples to work with and we must always strive to do the best in revenue collection, anti smuggling, trade facilitation without compromising national security”
After a brief handover ceremony, Adetoye commended the outgoing Controller , Mrs. Modupeopla Aremu, for leading a body of committed and dedicated officers who are shinning examples to others.
Mrs. Aremu asked the officers to extend their cooperation to the new CAC and improve on the achievements recorded under her watch. She noted that volume of imported vehicles into the country through the command increased with the ban on vehicle importation through the land borders.
