Revenue Boom: Apapa Customs nets N101b in two Months

The flagship command, Apapa customs has collected over N310,439,460,917.51 in the first nine months of 2018.
The command breaks its revenue records in August 2018 when its generated an unprecedented sum
of N68,668,095,723.16 followed by N33,113,258,042 in September making a total of N101,781,353,765.23 ( for the two months.
Meanwhile, Comptroller Abubakar Bashir has held several stakeholders meetings with relevant groups to sensitize them of his policy trust to deliver on the command `s responsibilities.
Bashir during one of the stakeholders meeting by the World Customs Organization (WCO) team on Time Release Study (TRS) said that his timing program for cargo release at the Apapa port is 48hrs and that all stakeholders should brace up for that challenge.
He informed the guests that out of the five alerts placed on cargo release, he has reduced it to three and will further reduced it.
He however caution importers and their agents that the command will intervene if their clearing process does not confine with the laws.
On the several complains of multiple alerts, Comptroller Bashir challenge that 80% of the alerts are based on trade infractions which borders on non compliance.
He called on all stakeholders to improve on their compliance level.
Comptroller Abubakar Bashir was recently redeployed in August from Onne command to the Apapa Customs Command. His first two months in office has witnessed several drastic changes to repositioned the command and this has yielded huge revenue boost for the federal government.
Bashir is regarded as one of the thorough and professionally imbibed officer, with full knowledge of customs functions at his finger tips.
