The new Management team comprising of the Chairman of Board, Director General, three Executive Directors and other board members have officially taken over the mantle of leadership at the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) from the 2016 appointees.
At a brief handover ceremony held today at the NIMASA head office in Lagos, Dr Dakuku Peterside, the outgoing Director General, and his two Executive Directors, Alhaji Gambo and Engr. Fashakin who have serve out their four years tenure having being appointed in March 2016 handed over to the new team led by the new Director General, Dr Bashir Yusuf Jamoh.
Other members of the new team are Hon. Okorie Asika who will served as chairman of the NIMASA board, Hon. Chudi Ofordile, Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Hon. Victor Ochie, Executive Director Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services and Alhaji Shehu Ahmed , Executive Director Operations.
The new appointments takes effects from today and they have a first tenure of four years which will elapsed in March 2024.
In his taking over address. Dr Bashir Jamoh assured that his team will consolidate on the efforts of the last regime and continue to pursue the ideals of viable Blue Economy for the country.
“I can assure you that we will consolidate on these efforts and take them further as we continue to pursue the ideals of a viable Blue Economy for our Country.
“But I know people are already expecting to hear about what we will be doing in terms of policy direction and initiative.
Today is Dr Dakuku’s valedictory and for us to bid farewell to our friends and brothers who have served and to thank them for their illustrious contributions as well as assure them that whatever they are leaving behind today in NIMASA , we shall definitely work hard to make even better for all our staff, external stakeholders and Nigerians in general.” the new NIMASA, DG said.
Jamoh also pledge to listen and engage more deeply and frequently with all stakeholders, both internal and external, regarding policies or initiatives to grow the maritime industry.
Before his appointment, Dr Bashir Jamoh was the Executive Director , Finance and Administration. He started his working career in the agency in 2003 and rose to the rank of Executive Director.
Many have applauded Jamoh’s appointment being the first insider ever appointed as NIMASA, DG since the inception of the agency in 2007.
