FG BEGINS CALIBRATION OF WEIGHBRIDGES IN NIGERIA

The Federal government has started the calibration of weighbridges used in weighing loads at the Ports, Petroleum products terminals and depots today.

The exercise which is a directive from the Federal Ministry of Transport is to preserve the Nigerian roads from further destruction and give commuter respite in their daily movements for economic transactions and other needs.

The calibration exercise begins this morning with the APM Terminal Apapa ports and will spread to other ports and terminals across the Country.

This country wide exercise is to be carried out by the National Metrology Institute of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) as the custodians of the primary measurements standards of highest accuracy in Nigeria.

The Director General of SON, Mallam Farouk Salim who described metrology as the science of measurements can be used to check the influx of substandard goods and other services in Nigeria.
