Akwa Ibom Gets another Commissioner of Police

In barely four months, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has gotten another Police Commissioner. He is CP Zaki Ahmed. Ahmed took over from CP Bashir Makama who barely spent four months in the State. CP Makama has been redeployed as Commissioner of Police Ogun State.

Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa State is known in recent times to have gotten a large number of police commissioner deployments who barely spend six months in office. Akwa Ibom is said to have the hugest so for with 10 Commissioners of police in the last two year.

According to a statement by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Odiko MacDon which reads “The Akwa Ibom State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu NPM, mni, has approved the posting of a new Commissioner of Police to Akwa Ibom State Police Command. He is CP. Zaki Ahmed. The new CP takes over from his predecessor, CP Bashir Makama, Psc(+) who have been redeployed to Ogun State”.

The new Akwa Ibom State police boss holds a B.Sc (Hons) degree in Sociology from the Usman-Danfodio University, Sokoto and a Masters Degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice (MLC) from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1988. He has served in various capacities in the Police Force before his present appointment.
He was Assistant Commissioner of Police, Operations, Rivers State Police Command, Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations, Delta State Police Command. Commandant, Police Detective College, Enugu,
and Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Police Command.
Before his present appointment, he was the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Police Command. He will resume duty as the 27th Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State.

The new Commissioner of Police who is a team player, has promised the good people of Akwa Ibom State of an all inclusive and open minded tenure, while enjoining them to remain law abiding and accord him the needed co-operation to fight crime in the State to a standstill.
