ANLCA NEC, EXPELS 8 MEMBERS FOR ATTACKS AND INDISCRIMINATE COURT CASES

The Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) has finally taken a decision on those they described as agents of destruction of the foremost Customs Brokers association in the Country.

During its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Lagos on Tuesday, the NEC which comprises of all Board members, National Executive Committee (NECOM) members, Chapter Executives and other chieftains of the association, after listening to the reports by the association’s Disciplinary Committee headed by the National Vice President, Dr Kayode Farinto, which recommended suspension, however take a further step which led to their expulsion.

Discussing the matter on the floor of the meeting, while the Disciplinary Committee recommended for their suspension, some floor members after heated debates and xraying the various attacks on persons including the National President and destruction of the Headquarters of the association which according to them were masterminded by these persons, and for the past three years are dragging the name of the association in the mud after every efforts for peace were unsuccessful. They opted for the expulsion of the affected members.

In accordance with ANLCA’s rules and constitution, the matter was put into votes, between Suspension and Expulsion. At the end of the voting, a total of 42 members voted for their expulsion, while only 7 members voted for their suspension. The NEC also agreed that both their companies and their persons be expelled from the association forthwith.

The names and companies of the eight expelled members are Managing Director of Green Star Nigeria Limited, Mr Temitope Akinyele, Managing Director of Muktimodal Logistics Ltd, Mr Adumaza Joe Sanni, Managing Director of Mac -Mary Nigeria Ltd ,Prince Taye Oyeniyi and Managing Director of Pyramid Nigeria lLtd ,Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha. Others are Managing Director of Nestelo Global Ltd, Sir Earnest Elochukwu, Managing Director of Salim Int’l Nigeria Ltd ,Sir Albert John Oforbike and Managing Director of Bay – LEE Agencies Ltd, Alhaji Bayo Oyekangun.

The NEC also decided to restore law and order in the association and reposition the association for greater feats.
Also, the gathering frown against unwarranted changes of exchange rates by the Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN) without consultation with stakeholders as according to them, such, affects international trade practices. They agreed to write the CBN governor on this matter.

Another matter discussed was indiscriminate alerts and other challenges post by the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and agreed also to write the Comptroller General of Customs on these issues.

Meanwhile, the newly inaugurated Executives of the Association’s BOT have said that, they will hit the ground running to stabilize the association. Speaking, the Vice Chairman of the ANLCA board, Prince Ozo Chukwura said the board will takeover all the court cases and try to reconcile all willing aggrieved members and bring them back to the fold, as according to him ANLCA is still one big family.
